Former MYX VJ and TV host Nikki Gil recently opened up about a challenging personal experience, revealing that her young daughter, Maddie, has been diagnosed with Kawasaki disease.

In a deeply moving Instagram post shared on Monday, 14 April, Nikki described this ordeal as the "hardest thing" she and her husband, BJ Albert, have ever encountered as parents.

"What a week," Nikki began her heartfelt message alongside a photo of a baby's hand. "Maddie was diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease — something we had never even heard of. And seeing our little girl in pain, hooked to IVs, enduring tests and meds, was the hardest thing we’ve ever gone through as parents."

Her raw and honest words painted a vivid picture of the emotional distress the family endured.

Amidst the fear and uncertainty, Nikki emphasized the unwavering support they received and the strength of their faith.

"But even in the scariest moments, God showed up — in the peace He gave, the people He sent, and the healing He allowed. We give Him all the glory for carrying us through and for Maddie’s recovery," she gratefully shared.

Nikki also expressed profound gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from their community.

"Thank you to everyone who sent Maddie and our family some love and support while she was in the hospital. Every message, prayer, meal, visit, and word of encouragement meant the world to us," she wrote, extending a special acknowledgment to the dedicated medical professionals who cared for Maddie.

The family has since returned home, and while Maddie's recovery journey continues, Nikki's heart is filled with thankfulness.

"We’re finally home with our brave girl, and while recovery continues, our hearts are filled with gratitude. God is so, so, so good," she concluded her hopeful message.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Kawasaki disease is a rare condition primarily affecting children under the age of five. It can potentially lead to damage in the heart and blood vessels. The exact cause of Kawasaki disease remains unknown.

Nikki Gil and her non-showbiz husband, BJ Albert, welcomed their daughter Maddie in October 2021. They are also parents to a son, Finn, who was born in November 2017, two years after the couple's marriage.
