A Solid North bus, operated by Dagupan Bus Co., reportedly hit four other vehicles that left at least 12 people dead and over 27 injured.

"In compliance with the directive of DOTr, Pangasinan Solid North Transit, Inc. (PSNTI) has stopped its whole operations," the bus unit said in a statement.

"For its patrons, unless otherwise provided, all trips of PSNTI are temporarily suspended. Effectively, all affected advance bookings may request for their respective cancellations," it added.

The bus company stressed it understands the gravity of suspension, saying it will be "responsible and accountable for it".

It also said it is sympathizing with the victims and those affected by the tragedy.

Transport Secretary Vince Dizon announced Friday all Pangasinan Solid North units are suspended for 30 days, an increased number from initial 15 suspended units.

"Buong fleet na ng Pangasinan Solid North ay suspended. Hindi lang rutang papuntang Pangasinan kung saan nangyari ang aksidente, kundi yung buong fleet na ng Pangasinan Solid North ay suspended as of now. 30 days suspension," he said.

Criminal charges will also be slapped against Solid North and the bus driver involved, he added.

The driver may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicides, multiple physical injuries, and multiple damage to property.

This after Dizon met with over 20 bus companies to discuss ways to improve the security and safety of passengers. A Solid North representative was present in the meeting.

Solid North, in its statement, said "[it has] always strived in continuously providing the best for our passengers."

"However, some uncontrollable factors get even the best of us that lead to this isolated case," it said.

-- PASSENGERS SHOCKED --

Some regular passengers of the bus line expressed their dismay at the sudden halt in operations.

"Nashock ako kasi, nasanay ako sa Solid North … Madalas ako bumyahe, twice a week," said Shane Andrea Hunatas, a regular passenger.

Other commuters, such as Mario Gallego from Pampanga, have opted to shift to other bus lines.

Meanwhile, in Antipolo, family and friends attended the wake of some of the victims.

Ricky Duran, who lost his wife and two children in the incident, shared the last conversation he had with his wife.

"Sabi niya, 'wag ka na mahal sumunod, natatakot ako… gusto ko ligtas ka.' Yun pala, sila ang mawawala," he said tearfully.

Another grieving mother, Nellie Murillo, lost two children and a grandchild in the accident.

"Wala na kasi kaming anak. Umaasa kami na balang araw magkikita kaming muli," she said.

Pastor James Ferry described the victims as dedicated members who were always present at their church events.

According to the church, the victims will be laid to rest on Friday.
